{"id":718,"date":"2021-11-22T14:22:45","date_gmt":"2021-11-22T19:22:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tourcartagena.com.co\/?post_type=trip&#038;p=718"},"modified":"2023-04-21T23:02:25","modified_gmt":"2023-04-22T04:02:25","slug":"plancton-luminoso-en-baru","status":"publish","type":"trip","link":"https:\/\/tourcartagena.com.co\/en\/trip\/plancton-luminoso-en-baru\/","title":{"rendered":"Luminous Plankton in Baru"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"plancton-luminoso-la-maravilla-natural-escondida-en-baru\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Luminous plankton, the hidden natural wonder in Bar\u00fa<\/mark><\/h3><p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">During the day, visitors can enjoy the white sand and crystal clear water of the Caribbean Sea, but at night a phenomenon occurs \u00ab<strong>Luminous plankton<\/strong>\u00bb almost unique that can be observed in a few places on the globe, in which the sea is dyed with colors and shapes that seem to be from another planet.<\/mark><\/p><p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">The presence of an algae triggers a reaction that makes the water glow with unique hues at night<\/mark><\/p><p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">A short distance from Bar\u00fa is the archipelago of <strong>Rosario Islands,<\/strong> and it has a particularity, the presence of the so-called \u00ab<strong>Luminous plankton<\/strong>\u00bb which attracts the attention of hundreds of tourists at night.<\/mark><\/p><ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/tourcartagena.com.co\/en\/product\/tour-5-islas-del-rosario\/\"><span class=\"has-inline-color has-vivid-green-cyan-color\">Day trip to the Rosario Islands + snorkel and plankton in a sports boat<\/span><\/a><\/li><\/ul><p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">The agglomeration of these plants forms a <strong>luminous plankton<\/strong> which is imperceptible under the sun's rays, but in the dark it causes bluish flashes that are activated by the natural movement of water.<\/mark><\/p><p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">The phenomenon occurs due to the presence of an alga called Noctiluca scintillans, also known as \"sea spark\", which is responsible for causing these light flashes.<\/mark><\/p><p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Between 7:00 and 7:30 a.m., we will pick you up at the hotel in Bocagrande, Laguito, Castillo Grande or Cartagena Convention Center and, then, we will travel to the paradisiacal Playa Blanca in Bar\u00fa and return at 8:30 p.m.<\/mark><\/p><p><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\">Where we are going to go is called the Ci\u00e9naga de Portonaito. The conditions of the place make them see very clearly; It has a single entrance where the currents are very strong and push the plankton inside. It is surrounded by mangroves that produce more oxygen than any other tree; the maximum depth is between two and three meters, and the water temperature is between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius.
